More than just an event.

More than a three-day sharing of ideas, Emerging Minds is an unconventional, six- to nine-month collaborative Immersion Journey. A unique convergent and divergent methodology will be used to identify and prioritize opportunities for real system-level change for persons with mental health conditions. Emerging Minds will explore the challenges experienced by those with the most common adult mental health conditions.

How It Works

Event Schedule

August 22

Personal Perspective of Mental Illness

On day one, we’ll explore the journey of persons living with mental health conditions along the whole care continuum, from pre-diagnosis, diagnosis and treatment to coping with daily life. We will hear and share real-life stories. Through discussion and analysis, we’ll gain a clear idea of the individual’s experience and frustrations as they connect with various aspects of care. Together, we will develop a deeper, diverse understanding of the existing challenges as well as gaps in care.

August 23

Support Network Perspectives

On day two, we’ll examine the many facets of the patient’s experience through the eyes of their support network including family, friends, employers, physicians, organizations and the larger community. Mental health clients’ behaviors can impact others in profound ways, resulting in deep pain and frustration on the part of everyone involved in the relationship. Through carefully crafted dialogue and analysis, we will explore the patient journey through the eyes of the stakeholders.

August 24

Identify Priorities and Opportunities

The goal of day three is to synthesize our discoveries and insights from the first two days. We will prioritize the most pressing issues and gaps and, together, identify innovative opportunities to improve the experience of care. Our thinking will be stimulated by discussions about future possibilities and new models of care. As our in-person event concludes, the priorities and opportunities that will guide an immersive six- to nine-month journey for participants will be identified here.
